Issues
Let's talk about items relevant to the state of education in our great hoosier state and how it can affect children in our schools
New Diploma Guidelines
As many of you know there has been some concern about the new high school diploma requirements the state is considering implementing. I agree that further review is necessary before taking that step as Indiana Colleges have expressed that the diplomas would not meet University admission requirements. We are currently ranked 25th for education by US News and World Report. As a parent it concerns me that we would lose any competitive advantage for our children in Higher Education and would succeed in depleting the value of our Public Educational System in the state. There are over 1 million students in Public Schools in Indiana, just for reference there are only 92000 students in Private Schools in our great Hoosier state. As the majority of our children are Public School students we must put them first in our decisions on educational requirements. because our children deserve the best options the state has to offer for their future.
